PRENATAL YOGA

gently ease your way into childbirth

Prenatal Yoga is a safe and enjoyable form of exercise during pregnancy. It is a holistic programme that helps the expectant mother to deal with physical, psychological and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy, as well as to prepare for childbirth. It includes breathing techniques, gentle stretching and restorative exercises, as well as relaxation and meditation.

The specially adapted yoga postures prepare the mother-to-be for a smooth delivery by opening the pelvis and relieving tension around the cervix and birth canal. Always gently executed, the exercises will keep your body fit and supple and your mind strong and focused, minimising the common pregnancy symptoms, such as morning sickness, lower back pain, sciatica, fluid retention, insomnia and shallow breathing. Each class includes a selection of postures and breathing techniques that can used during labour.

Beneficial at every stage of pregnancy, Prenatal Yoga boosts stamina, increases flexibility, tones muscles, oxygenates the blood, improves concentration, relieves stress and reduces fatigue. Practicing yoga at this special time can be a source of inspiration that shapes awareness, will and unconditional empathy. It is a great way to create a bond between the mother and the baby as the woman enters motherhood. No previous experience of yoga is required. The classes are aimed at women from the 14th week of pregnancy.
